It was busting at the seams with activities!! The coolest thing was that it came with a card explaining all the activities inside.
And another with more digital content.
1. Create your own constellation. With the clouds already out, we are going to do this another day!
2. A story book to read and answer discussion questions. With a first grader and a second grader, this was a HUGE hit!
3. The Pre-K was very interested in this one because it came with kid binocular They sent a chart explaining the phases of the moon and another chart for the kids to chart the moon over a month. I'm sure Oz will enjoy this one with the boys during the first month of 2013.
4. But the one that got the most attention was also the messiest! Isn't that always the case. The materials and instructions were provided to make a Paper mache night light shaped like the moon. Cool, right?!
So off to follow them we did....We layed out all the materials. Everything was included! How many times do you go to do a project and you are missing one or more items. It was great to reach for the project and know everything was there waiting patiently to be used.
Mix 2 parts glue to 1 part water...
Mix well...
Tear up the paper into little strips. This was harder than it looked.
And because I'm OCD and we are doing this on the table my Granny left me, we put down newspaper and put on rubber gloves. I will say, this had to the be the only thing missing from the box. Any craft project requiring the children to get messy should include gloves.
Blow up a balloon!
Now dip the strips in the glue, squeeze off the excess and cover the balloon.
Looks good!! This required drying over night and repeating the process the next day to get 2 good layers. BabbaBox included enough paper for 2 layers and enough glue to go another round. :)
While everything was drying, I read the box a little more and notice something that I found awesome as a mom! Each activity had little labels on them explaining what kind skills each activity enriched. This particular one was creative and fine motor skills! I love this about BabbaBox!!
The final step included popping the balloon and setting the ball of dried paper mache over the little candle light sent in the package. The kids loved it!!
