Friday, the day for Free Printables

The week the Pilot and I have spent a lot of time researching our ancestors. With this research, a lot of stories have surfaced. Some are relevant and some are not. Some have been entertaining, some empowering and some quite deflating. And it got me to thinking. Blogging is our platform now. Will the words we right and send into virtual space still be here in 100 years or 200 years when my five generations down grand-daughter wants to know my story?

I'm not sure. But I know I've enjoyed reading the letters and hearing the stories this week. So i'm inspired! Since i wrote my story a couple of weeks ago, or bits of it anyway and shared it with you, I beginning to think I'm behind the 8-ball and need to step up the pace. So,I figure there are two options:
  1. I can print my blog every year or every 5 years as a memoir, hoping that someone will stumble upon it in years to come and find it equally as intriguing. Print2Blog is a great resource for just that. Prices start around $14.95 and are incredible quality. Blurb is another great resource. Their smallest book starts at $12.99. Both of these work well with Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal and TypePad.
  2. I can start to journal. I know. We learned in school how to journal, but who really does that any more? Well, one day someone might want to read your story from your own handwriting. It might even give it more validity than your IP address. But Not just any journal will do. I'm going to use my own journalling paper and make it almost like a scrapbook.

And now for the Free Printable...Its great for starting a journal about your story. It works well in the classroom too for short-story platforms. Enjoy!!

If you liked my printable, check out this awesome Halloween craft to liven up your home. The make some of these Ooey Gooey cookies and share them with your loved ones while you read your awesome stories!! This can be a great family-time event.

BabbaBox: Sun, Moon & Stars

Our family was blessed by BabbaBox and The Sits Girls to receive a very cool after school activity box. This particular box featured the Sun, Moon & Stars. With Oz being so passionate about aviation, this was right up our alley. So open the box we did...And what a pretty box it was!

It was busting at the seams with activities!! The coolest thing was that it came with a card explaining all the activities inside.

And another with more digital content.

This box came with 4 activities, the perfect amount to do one weekly and complete the box over a month.

Reinventing...

I'm sitting at my office computer thinking about my blog and how much I miss writing. I don't know who reads. I am not even sure I want to know who reads as it might make me a little more cautious of what I post. But I digress...I happen to be reading a SITS featured post this morning by Alyssa Erickson. She specifically writes about reinventing yourself in your writing, finding your passion for your blog once again. And it made me start to think.

Why do I write?

What do I expect for my readers to get from my blog?

Are my readers connecting with anything of the black and white on the page?

Hmm...I immediately went to my reader and reviewing recent posts by some of my favorite bloggers, only to find several haven't blogged in over a year, or they had moved their blog. Where have I been? Why didn't I see that before now? Was Alyssa's post to help me find my way back to their blogs and network? Or was it to help me rejuvenate my writing.

As a mom of 4 boys, I never have a dull moment. I should have more things to write about than I have time to scribe, but I find myself with writer's block more often than not. Last night Case, my seven year old, told my darling husband and I about sex. That could take a week to write with a straight face. Cole threw a fit because his younger brother looked at him sideways. Jake insists he can do anything his older brothers can do but screams to high heaven if someone doesn't help him. And sweet sweet Josh just smiles through his terrible twos making everyone forget that he shouldn't be in the knife drawers. Oh and Sweet Josh's reincarnation as Al Bundy could take up a couple of blog posts as well.

But...

I wonder. Would it make me a better mom to share it here? Would it scream out to others that I'm insane? Would someone questions my abilities because I openly share about the same struggles, well almost the same struggles that most moms face? What would you do?

I'm seriously looking for feedback. Do my crazy kid stories make you more confident that you stopped at 2? Do they make you feel like you are normal since I'm insane? Does my hurricane-cluttered house make your's look spit-shined?

I think I'm off to find some chocolate....where is that recipe for Chocolate, Banana, Peanut Butter Cupcakes again??
